The Royal Bangkok Symphony Orchestra will open its new season with a classical concert, at Thailand Cultural Centre's Small Hall, Ratchadaphisek Road, tomorrow at 8pm.
Presented by the Bangkok Symphony Orchestra Foundation under the Royal Patronage of HRH Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana, the "RBSO Classical Concert No.1" will see maestro Vanich Potavanich conduct the orchestra in a delightful programme of joyful, celebratory music by three Austrian composers from music's golden Classical age.
The evening will begin with Mozart's irresistibly beautiful overture to Così Fan Tutte K 588, followed by his other brilliant opera overture, Lucio Silla, to continue the particularly positive and bright-sounding selection of pieces.
Also featured in the repertoire is Franz Schubert's Symphony No.3 In D Major, which is delightfully playful in nature, with some deliciously Schubertian harmonic inflections and a whirlwind finale of the type which keeps everyone on the edge of their seats.
The concert will feature young trumpet soloist Terdrid Reaungroj in Johann Nepomuk Hummel's exuberant and virtuosic Trumpet Concerto In E-flat Major. He is one of Potavanich's own star pupils, who won the Thailand Trumpet Competition in 2010, and has been assistant principal trumpet of the RBSO since 2014.
One of the most prominent Thai classical musicians of his generation, Potavanich is longtime principal trumpet of the RBSO and a renowned composer/arranger. He was appointed director of the Bangkok Symphony Orchestra Foundation and RBSO resident conductor late last year.

Tickets cost 300, 600 and 1,000 baht (half-prices for students) and can be purchased from Thai Ticket Major outlets (visit thaiticketmajor.com).
