The Royal Bangkok Symphony Orchestra is accepting applications for Season 3 of the "Search For Talent Vocal Competition", open to solo vocalists, aged eight to 16, of all nationalities.
Held in collaboration with the Office of Art and Culture, Chulalongkorn University, the third edition of the competition requires each contestant to submit only one song in a musical category -- Broadway, West End, Hollywood or animated features, with no classical pieces, popular repertoire or Thai songs except those derived or translated from musical theatre. They must submit a video via YouTube for audition by Sep 30. Around 30 successful candidates will be picked -- half of them between eight to 12 years old and the other half between 13-16 years -- for the live performance round in front of a three-judge panel at Chulalongkorn University on Oct 13.
Six candidates will be declared winners and will be performing with the RBSO in its winter "Concert In The Park Series", starting early next year. There's a possibility that they will be invited to perform with the orchestra in a special concert, to be held in the small hall of the Thailand Cultural Centre in May of next year.
Four months ago, winners from the first two seasons were invited to join a special two-day concert titled "RBSO Young Talent Sings Broadway", which was well received by the public.
There is no application fee. Visit bangkoksymphony.org or email talentsearch@bangkoksymphony.org
