Liverpool secured top spot in their Champions League group with a 2-0 victory against RB Salzburg in Austria.
Jurgen Klopp’s side needed at least a point to guarantee their qualification and were under pressure in the first half in Salzburg, with prodigious young striker Erling Braut Haland missing a great opportunity to give his side the lead.
However, Liverpool’s quality ultimately shone through in a dominant second-half display with Naby Keita breaking the deadlock against his former club.
Mohamed Salah, who had spurned a number of clear opportunities, then rounded the Salzburg keeper and scored on his weaker right foot from an outrageous angle to secure Liverpool’s place in the last-16.
