RB Salzburg star Patson Daka fuels transfer links with bold Arsenal and Liverpool claim

RB Salzburg forward Patson Daka claims he will go on to emulate Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Liverpool stars Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.

Daka, 22, is a target for some of the Premier League's biggest clubs, with Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United all believed to be monitoring the centre-forward.

The Zambia international joined Salzburg's feeder club, Liefering, in 2017 after coming through the ranks at Nchanga Rangers and Kafue Celtic in his homeland.

He joined Austrian giants Salzburg later that year and has gone from strength to strength, scoring 27 goals last season and starting this campaign with 15 goals and five assists in 17 games.

Daka's form has grabbed the attention of Europe's giants, and the player has high hopes of matching some of the greatest African players of the current generation.

"To see our big brothers like Aubameyang, Salah, Mane, it's something that gives me the dream that I can also make it," Daka told BBC Sport.

"I can be like them. They are my inspiration, knowing that they also come from Africa.

"I think when people are making those kinds of comparisons, it's great, looking at the status of Sadio Mane, the kind of football he plays and the kind of person that he is."

Discussing a potential future transfer, Daka added: "The most vital thing that I've noticed is that the club [doesn't] focus much about receiving big money for players.

"They're more concerned about the development of the player."

Zambia boss Milutin Sredojevic is similarly confident Daka will make a big impression on European football, making a comparison to Barcelona and Cameroon legend Samuel Eto'o as well as Liverpool's Mane.

"I would say he's on the road to replace what Samuel Eto'o once was in representing Africa and African football," Sredejovic said.

"He could be compared to Sadio Mane or Samuel Eto'o, with the level of skill and speed that he has. With the sense for space, sense of positioning, in the right place at the right time."

Where should Patson Daka move to ensure he can continue his development? Have your say in the comments.
