RB Salzburg expect Manchester United target Erling Haaland to join Liverpool FC

Red Bull Salzburg sporting director Cristoph Freund expects Borussia Dortmund forward Erling Haaland to move to Liverpool in the future.

The Norway international excelled with the Austrian side, securing a transfer to Dortmund last December, when United were also keen on his services.

Twenty-year-old Haaland has continued his fine form since moving to the Bundesliga, netting 18 goals in his first 20 league appearances for the German outfit.

Big things are expected of the forward and Freund believes that the trajectory of his career will eventually take him to Anfield.

Speaking to former Germany international Lothar Mattheus, Freund was asked about Haaland joining Liverpool and replied: "He will land there.

“He can play for any club in the world, With his mentality, his will and self-confidence, he will be able to make a mark on European football in the next ten years."

Freund also reaffirmed Haaland led the decision to sign for Dortmund earlier this year, confirming that there were many clubs interested in landing the highly rated striker.

"The talks with Dortmund were short," Freund said. "They told me they had come to an agreement. We didn’t have that much influence on it, but it worked out correctly. Many clubs were interested and go in touch. In the end, it was a decision made by the player."
