RB Salzburg chief makes big Erling Haaland transfer admission amid Manchester United speculation

RB Salzburg sporting director Christoph Freund has revealed there is no clause in Erling Haaland's contract that could give sister club RB Leipzig first refusal on a transfer.

Reports emerged earlier this month suggesting that the forward, who has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United , could be available for just £25.7million to the German side, who are both owned by the same Red Bull group. That's despite Haaland's valuation being widely reported as a fee in excess of £80million.

But Freund has revealed no such clause exists in the 19-year-old's contract, with Haaland expected to be pursued by many of Europe's big clubs following a sensational streak of goals this season. He's scored 23 goals in 19 games in all competitions.

It could come as a boost for United, who are in the market for signing a forward in January - and the prolific Norwegian striker has worked with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer before during their time together at Molde.

"There is no such clause, that is not an issue for us," Freund told  Kicker .

"We would never own any club a right of advance to any player.

"That was not the case in the past and will not be the case in the future."

Haaland's latest strike came after coming off the bench in Salzburg's 4-1 Champions League victory over Genk on Wednesday night. He's also scored versus Liverpool at Anfield this season and away against Napoli.
