RB Phillip Lindsay talked about his mentality when he’s pass blocking

The Miami Dolphins added a new running back to their team last week when they claimed Phillip Lindsay off of waivers.

Lindsay had been struggling with Houston this season after a pretty solid start to his career with Denver. Due to his uninspiring play with the Texans, there were some who thought the claim was a waste of time and money. However, after one week, it could be argued that the move has already paid off.

The former Colorado Buffalo carried the ball 12 times for 42 yards against Carolina which is nothing to write home about. However, he also had a key block on Jaylen Waddle’s 57-yard catch-and-run that was instrumental in the success of the play.

After the game, Lindsay was asked to talk about pass blocking, and he basically had his own monologue.

“That doesn’t take talent,” Lindsay said. “All that takes is determination and effort, ane being of the dog mentality to say ‘I’m not going to let my quarterback get hit.’ Honestly, that’s what it’s all about. In my head, how I process things, and I’m a little crazy, but how I process things is I’m protecting this man, his health, and everything about him. If I sit here, and I let him go, and I let him get hit, his family is watching this, my family is watching this, and it’s a bad thing. On top of that, this is how I keep food on the table for my family, and I really take that serious. That’s truly who I am, and y’all will get to know me a little bit more about that, but I a crazy in the head. At the end of the day ain’t nothing going to stop me from feeding my family.”

Lindsay brings a professional attitude to this running back room, and he seems to be putting in the work, as he noted that he and running backs coach Eric Studesville have been at the facility day and night since he’s been in Miami to get him up to speed.

As he becomes more familiar with the offense, it would make sense that Lindsay’s role grows. Maybe he even takes over the starting job.
