The Houston Texans added a seasoned running back in free agency with the acquisition of Mark Ingram, formerly of the Baltimore Ravens.
The move by the Texans seemed interesting given the fact they already had an older, established back in David Johnson, who started 12 games and rushed 147 times for 691 yards and six touchdowns. However, the former New Orleans Saints 2011 first-round pick says the Texans wanted his services, and he was enthused about reuniting with Culley, who was the Baltimore Ravens’ receivers coach and passing game coordinator since 2019.
“They wanted me,” Ingram said via Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle. “I flew in and visited. Going somewhere that wants me, that’s always a plus. Playing for Coach Culley, that made it an easy transition for me knowing the type of man he is. It’s a great opportunity. I’m excited about it.”
Ingram provided the Ravens with 274 carries for 1,317 yards and 12 touchdowns while also catching 32 passes for 297 yards and five touchdowns through 26 games, 24 of which he started. Ingram earned a Pro Bowl selection at the end of the 2019 season.
