RB Leipzig send Timo Werner transfer message to Liverpool fans as striker prepares for Bundesliga return

RB Leipzig have sent a cheeky message to Liverpool supporters ahead of the resumption of the Bundesliga this weekend.

The German top-flight outfit, who will face Freiburg at the Red Bull Arena tomorrow afternoon at 2:30pm UK time, sent a series of tweets explaining why Premier League fans should choose them to support while English football is still halted.

West Ham United fans were urged to support them after Leipzig beat Tottenham twice in the Champions League earlier this year, while Chelsea supporters were told to get behind loanee Ethan Ampadu.

Followers of Liverpool, though, were sent a message regarding reported Reds transfer target Timo Werner.

#YoullNeverWalkHimHome was the clear message to Liverpool fans, though the Anfield side could yet secure the signing of the Germany international.

Werner, 24, has been linked with the Reds for years and it is believed that he has a release clause of around £52 million written into his contract.

But with uncertainty over the transfer market caused by the coronavirus, it is unclear at this stage whether Liverpool will feel that price-tag will still prove good value when the summer comes.
