RB Leipzig send brutal Tottenham transfer message over Arsenal target Dayot Upamecano

Dayot Upamecano could be one of the top defensive prospects in world football.

The defender is already shining in the Bundesliga and Champions League, and has attracted interest from a number of top European clubs.

Among them are Arsenal, who are said to have been following the centre-back for a while now.

With the purchase of William Saliba last summer, it is thought that Upamecano could make the ideal partner for the defender currently on loan at Saint-Etienne.

Can Jose Mourinho turn Spurs around?

A player of Upamecano's ability would likely come with a huge price tag this summer. However, his contract will have just one year remaining at the end of the season, and he is said to have a release clause of just over £50million.

Spurs are also looking likely to need defensive reinforcement with Jan Vertonghen out of contract at the end of this season, and one fan took a cheeky punt on RB Leipzig's latest post about their defender, prompting a brutal response from the Bundesliga side.

The German club posted two photos of the centre-back as a child, asking 'Who's that?" A Tottenham fan replied with: "A future Spurs player," which Leipzig didn't take to too kindly.

They replied: "Spurs and a future...? This doesn't add up..."

Needless to say, the post went down a hit with Arsenal fans, who are hoping to see the defender line up in their colours next season.

The German side knocked Spurs out of the Champions League at the round of 16, winning 4-0 on aggregate after a 1-0 victory in North London and a 3-0 thrashing at home.
