Liverpool tightened their grip on Champions League group D with a convincing 5-0 away win at Atalanta on Tuesday night.
The Reds maintained the 100% record so far - the first time they have ever won the opening three games of a Champions League group - thanks to a stunning hat-trick from Portuguese forward Diogo Jota whose impressive start to Anfield life continues.
Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane also found the net as Jurgen Klopp's men made light work of the attack-minded Italians who were expected to provide the Reds with their toughest test of the group.
The Bergamo-based finished third in Serie A last season while notching 98 goals - the highest tally in Italy's top division in more than 60 years - and also reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League before bowing out to a late fightback by eventual finalists Paris Saint-Germain.
They currently lie fourth in their domestic league table, having scored 17 goals in six games - the second highest tally in the division, but were given a lesson on their own patch by Jurgen Klopp's side who took an early grip on the match and never looked to relinquish it.
After the game, Atalanta's official Twitter tweeted the final score and received an amusing reply from RB Leipzig.
The Bundesliga side reached the Champions League semi-finals last season where they lost to PSG and play the French champions again tonight in Group H after being hammered 5-0 themselves last week away at Manchester United.
The Leipzig reply sympathised with the Italians and read: "Chin up! We know how this feels."
Atalanta will face Liverpool again at Anfield when the Champions League resumes after the international break on 25th November.
