RB Leipzig head coach issues promising Emile Smith Rowe update following injury nightmare

Emile Smith Rowe could finally be set to make his Bundesliga debut this weekend when RB Leipzig face Wolfsburg on Saturday.

The talented midfielder, who made a big impression for Arsenal during the first half of the season, joined the German side on loan in January.

Following in the footsteps of teammate Reiss Nelson who headed to Hoffenheim in August, the 18-year-old has had to bide his time on the sidelines so far due to a groin injury.

The issue has kept him out for longer than expected but he has now returned to training.

Speaking ahead of this weekend's game, head coach Ralf Rangnick revealed that there is a good chance the youngster will be in the Leipzig squad for the very first time.

"He will more than likely be in the squad for the first time," said the German. "He's trained all week, and gives us another option.

"He's shown in training why we took him on loan.

"He's got a brilliant mixture of good physique, speed and an unbelievably good shooting technique.

"If the game allows it, it's possible that we'll bring him on."

Smith Rowe has been left impressed by the fans in Germany so far and claimed last month that he's looking forward to taking to the pitch for the very first time.

"I can't wait to play in front of the fans," he said (via Bundesliga.com). "I think it will be really good.

"Obviously the stadium is really big and it's a great atmosphere. When I first went to one of the games, the fans were just always singing.

"Obviously that happens at Arsenal as well, but over here it's just crazy."
