RB Leipzig give Timo Werner update as midfielder returns ahead of Tottenham Champions League tie

Champions League football is back on the agenda for Tottenham on Tuesday evening as they travel to Germany.

Trailing RB Leipzig 1-0 after the first leg, Jose Mourinho's men have it all to do at the Red Bull Arena against the Bundesliga high-flyers.

Julian Nagelsmann's side really should have put the game out of sight in N17 and their poor finishing has given the Lilywhites a glimmer of hope as they look to advance to the final eight of the competition.

RB Leipzig face a trip to Wolfsburg before the European game and there are doubts over the fitness of main man Timo Werner.

The German international is currently struggling with a thigh issue and Nagelsmann has claimed that he is unsure if the frontman will feature on Saturday afternoon.

"There is pain when running, he has increased muscle tension," said the manager as quoted by Bild. "If it doesn't go, it doesn't look good."

Amid fears that he may miss out against Wolfsburg, Spurs fans will be keeping tabs on the team news on Saturday given that the sides meet in Leipzig three days later.

While there are concerns regarding the highly-rated forward, the German side have been given some good news on the injury front as Tyler Adams has returned to full training.

The United States international missed the first leg due to a calf injury and there is a chance he could make his return on Saturday against Wolfsburg.

The club have also confirmed that Ibrahima Konate and Kevin Kampl have returned to training partially ahead of their upcoming games.

However, Chelsea loanee Ethan Ampadu is still out with a back problem and a doubt for Wolfsburg.
