RB Leipzig director drops Erling Haaland hint amid Manchester United transfer speculation

RB Leipzig sporting director Markus Krosche has dropped a huge hint that he is interested in bringing Erling Braut Haaland to the club amid speculation linking the forward with a move to Manchester United.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer previously confirmed that United were aiming to bolster their forward options in the upcoming January transfer window.

Haaland netted his fifth hat-trick of the season prior to the international break and reports have suggested the 19-year-old has emerged as a possible transfer target for United.

The forward fits the profile of player Solskjaer wants to sign and the United boss has worked with the Salzburg star during his time at Molde.

However, Leipzig could have the advantage in the race for his signature given the links between the two clubs. Krosche admitted the move has already been considered.

"The boy is a very good player," he told German outlet Bild.

"Both in the league and in the Champions League, he does an exceptionally good job. Of course, we are already looking around for the summer."

17 players have already made the switch from Salzburg to Leipzig meaning United might be facing a losing battle if their interest in Haaland is genuine.

Haaland's exceptional goal-scoring form could see Salzburg demand a huge fee for his services but Bild also claim the Bundesliga side will be able to sign him for just £25million. On the other hand, some reports suggest United would need to fork out upwards of £50m to lure him to England.

As well as Haaland, MEN Sport understand United remain interested in Leicester City star James Maddison and Borussia Dortmund youngster Jadon Sancho but a January move is unlikely.
