RB Leipzig chief details Jurgen Klopp transfer tactic that secured Sadio Mane and Naby Keita

Red Bull's football chief Ralf Rangnick has revealed that Jurgen Klopp secures his transfer targets by ringing them personally in an effort to convince them to join Liverpool.

The German currently has two players who have previously played for Red Bull-owned clubs at Anfield - Sadio Mane and Naby Keita.

The former headed to Liverpool via Southampton in 2016 while Keita was signed directly from Leipzig for £55m.

Both players were linked with several clubs before opting for a switch to Merseyside.

And Klopp's personal touch is said to be a huge factor in their decision with Rangnick telling the Times that he goes directly to the player.

He said: "If Jurgen wants a player like Naby Keita or Sadio Mane then, in normal circumstances, those players also have interest from other clubs.

"So what Jurgen does is call the players themselves.

"If possible, meet the players themselves and convince them why the next best step for them is a transfer for Liverpool."

Mane has become one of the world's best players since moving from St.Mary's in 2016.

Last term he won the Premier League Golden Boot, alongside Mohamed Salah and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

And the Senegalese star has previously praised the German's influence on his career.

"He is somebody that is full of life, he is somebody who makes us all responsible as players, which is very important for a player on the field," he told the club's official website.

"He is a coach who knows how to handle you off the field, too."

"Sometimes he can be hard with his players, but it’s for positive reasons and that’s helped us a lot on the field. It is quite impressive, in fact, if you got to know him to understand all of that."
