RB Leipzig chief denies Chelsea transfer agreement for Liverpool-linked Timo Werner

RB Leipzig chief Oliver Mintzlaff has denied claims that Chelsea have an agreement in place to sign Timo Werner from the Bundesliga side.

The Germany international, heavily linked with Liverpool, has been widely reported to have agreed to terms with the Blues for a transfer when the window opens.

The news of Werner's supposed change of heart has caused some disappointment amongst Reds fans but the German side have spoken out amid the speculation.

Mintzlaff, Red Bull GmbH Global Head of Soccer and the man who oversees the brand's clubs across the globe, have stated there has been no contact between the two clubs.

“We haven't had an exchange with Chelsea yet. So far, Timo Werner has not drawn the clause, nor has a club sent a transfer contract," he told Sky Germany.

"We have nothing to report and do not take part in the daily speculation."

However, this may not change the picture in the market as the reports have stated Werner has agreed personal terms with the club, who could now match his release clause with the Champions League quarter-finalists.
