RB Leipzig boss Julian Nagelsmann names what he's most looking forward to about facing Spurs

RB Leipzig boss Julian Nagelsmann is relishing the prospect of facing Tottenham Hotspur in the Champion League round of 16.

The 32-year-old is looking forward to making his way to north London in February after the two teams were paired up in Monday's draw.

Nagelsmann is one of the hottest young managerial prospects in Europe right now and was considered for the job at Tottenham after Mauricio Pochettino's depature.

Instead he will come up against Jose Mourinho, but it is a particular building along Tottenham High Road that he is most looking forward to about the draw.

"Tottenham is a very nice and exciting tie!" he told Leipzig's social media channel. "They're one of Europe's top teams, playing in a fantastic city with star players who have a lot of experience. It won't be easy but we're really looking forward to it, especially playing in that stadium.

"Spurs have a world-class manager in Jose Mourinho. The games will be exciting and we'll need to put in two top performances. We're more than capable of doing that. What a tie! We can't wait!"

Leipzig are currently top of the Bundesliga, having scored more goals than anyone else in the German top flight, with Timo Werner leading the line with 16 goals.

Spurs will be happy they swerved some of the competition's biggest teams for one who is making its first appearance in the Champions League knockout stages, but Leipzig will present a formidable test for Mourinho's men.

The Tottenham boss believes that his team will be ready come February.

"I think from the teams that finished second, I think the teams that finished first will wish they don’t play against us. We are one of the strongest teams from the second group," he said.

"I know we are a country that goes through a crazy period which many, many times leaves marks on players and teams and conditions, but by the end of February I will understand my players better, they will understand me better.

"We have two more months of work together. I think so, we will be much more ready."
