Sunday's recap: Rays 3, White Sox 2

April 17--The Rays scored three runs off White Sox left-hander Jose Quintana in the first three innings Sunday afternoon, and a cold Sox offense never caught up in a 3-2 loss to the Rays at Tropicana Field. The Sox, who lost their second straight, didn't score more than two runs in any of their three games against the Rays in the series.

At the plate

Austin Jackson's RBI single in the third inning and Avisail Garcia's RBI single in the seventh were the only runs scored off Rays starter Matt Moore.

On the mound

Jose Quintana allowed three runs -- two earned -- on seven hits with no walks and six strikeouts over six innings.

Brandon Guyer singled and scored on Steve Pearce's double off the center-field wall for a first-inning run. Logan Forsythe doubled to open the third and scored on Guyer's RBI single off Quintana.

In the field

After the Rays scored a run in the third inning, Quintana nearly escaped the inning without any more damage, but he missed first base while taking a toss from Jose Abreu following a groundball. Logan Morrison was safe, Quintana was charged with an error and a Rays run scored.

Key number

12 -- Strikeouts by the Sox on Sunday, including four from Todd Frazier.
