ARLINGTON, Texas _ The Texas Rangers used a lineup made up mostly bench players and the result reflected as much as the Rays took advantage of four unearned runs with a 4-1 win Saturday night at Globe Life Park.
The Rangers and Rays conclude the regular season at 2 p.m. Sunday. Martin Perez faces the Rays' right-hander Chase Whitley.
The Rays scored four unearned runs in the third inning after a fielding error on a hard grounder to Rougned Odor at second base. After taking a 1-0 lead on Evan Longoria's RBI groundout, and a walk by Brad Miller, Corey Dickerson's three-run homer gave the Rays a 4-0 lead. Lewis struck out three, walked one and allowed four unearned runs on five hits in 6 1/3 innings. He took the loss to drop to 6-5.
Robinson Chirinos' solo homer to start the sixth pulled the Rangers to within 4-1. The Rangers lineup consisted of mostly bench players. They finished with three hits,, including a double by Ryan Rua and infield single by Ian Desmond, who was replaced by Delino DeShields after two at-bats.
Chirinos' homer gives the Rangers 214 for the season.
