Raye scores first UK number one album

Singer Raye has scored her first UK number one album, according to the Official Charts Company.

The 28-year-old, born Rachel Agatha Keen and known for the hit song Where Is My Husband!, topped the UK album charts with This Music May Contain Hope.

The South Londoner also topped the official vinyl albums chart after releasing the record last Friday.

She had previously peaked at number two in the charts with debut album My 21st Century Blues.

Raye made history in 2024 when she took won six categories at the Brit Awards – the most of any artist in one night – including songwriter and artist of the year.

Fellow London singer Olivia Dean moved to second in the chart with her award-winning The Art Of Loving.

At number three is Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, whose record Bully entered the charts in third.

The US rapper has been announced as a headline act at Wireless Festival this summer in London’s Finsbury Park.

Completing the album top five is K-Pop group BTS with their post-hiatus comeback Arirang, and US singer-songwriter Melanie Martinez with Hades.

On the UK singles charts, Tame Impala ascended nine places to number three with Dracula.

It is the first time the Australian band has made it into the UK top 10 and comes after their track was remixed to feature Blackpink’s Jennie.

Sam Fender and Dean continue their streak at the top of the singles chart with their Brit Award-winning Rein Me In.

They are followed by Bella Kay’s ILoveItILoveItILoveIt, which moved from third last week to second, with Harry Styles’ American Girls holding fourth place and BTS completing the top five with Swim.
