Ray Quinn heartbroken after dad dies weeks after cancer diagnosis

Ray Quinn has opened up about his heartbreak after his dad died last year just weeks after being diagnosed with cancer.

Former X Factor star Ray lost his dad, also called Ray, last November and said it had been a "sad, dark time."

Speaking to OK Magazine! Ray said that doctors told his father he could have six to eight months if he started treatment.

But sadly Ray died just weeks later, Ray said : "My dad passed away in November which was really quite a sad, dark time.

"It was a really difficult time for me... Basically he had cancer and it was a bit heavy and it was all over.

"They told him six to eight months with the treatment and it was six to eight weeks basically and we lost him just before the 8th November, I think he died on the 7th.

"It was very, very sad times. I'm still getting over it now as you can probably tell."

Ray told the magazine how his father was his biggest fan and would always go to his shows.

He said: "He loved a beer or two! He was a real character my dad and I get some of that from him.

"Even when he came to my gigs he was the first person I'd go up to and say: 'How was it dad?'

"He'd be the first person to tell me the truth, he'd say: 'I've seen you do it better,' and it would just break my heart, but I knew inside it wasn't good enough."

Ray also spoke about his plans for a family with his fiancee Emily.
