Ray Parlour names one major Arsenal concern as Mikel Arteta faces defining Norwich City clash

Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour has admitted that he's worried for his beloved club if they were to concede first at the weekend in the Premier League against Norwich City.

Despite this being the worst start to the season in 67 years for Mikel Arteta's side, the Spaniard will be looking to conserve an impressive record that the north Londoners currently have against the Canaries.

This is because the Gunners haven't lost at home to league newcomers since 1992 but with the manager's habit of currently breaking unwanted records, it is not out of the question that this record will remain intact come 5pm on Saturday.

Having conceded nine goals so far at the start of this new campaign, pundit and ex-Arsenal legend Parlour is worried at the atmosphere around the Emirates Stadium if Daniel Farke's side were to take the lead in this encounter.

He told talkSPORT: "They are well away from that top four at the moment and that's where they have got to get back to.

"And we all argued under Arsene Wenger that fourth place wasn't good enough.

"Sadly, you are coming 8th and 9th now which isn't good enough for Arsenal Football Club, so he's bought a lot of young players and they have got to bed into the team."

Parlour went on to question whether or not Arteta would be given the time to complete this project, adding: "That is the big decision.

"If you are Norwich tomorrow, the first 15 minutes you have to get right at them, and the crowd- if they [Norwich City] score first then it's going to be a totally different atmosphere at the Emirates.

"You can imagine some supporters getting on their backs a bit.

"I hope it doesn't happen because I'm an Arsenal fan and I really want them to do well, but I'm worried if Norwich do come out of the traps really well and get that first goal, then it's going to be an atmosphere which isn't going to be good to play in."

Manager Arteta is under no illusion that a lot is riding on this game for his future and more importantly, the future of his newly revamped side as they look to climb up the table this weekend.

"It always is at Arsenal [a must win game]," he said.

"The pressure is always there to be as high as possible in that league table. We need that first win, we're going to play in front of our fans after that disappointing start.

"It's down to us to provide everything we have performance-wise to get the result we need in the end."

He went on to claim that he wants to see a good performance alongside the result: "I just want to focus on that. Because the performance will bring to the result, everybody's going to talk about winning but you have to earn the right do to that.

"Unfortunately in the past few games we've done basic things that haven't allowed us to compete in games the way we want.

"So if we do those right we'll be much closer to winning football matches, it will bring momentum and things will change."
