Arsenal legend Ray Parlour has stated that he believes Mesut Ozil's career in North London is coming to a close, explaining that there are better options in the squad.
The Germany World Cup winner has been omitted from the squad for the last three matches in the past week, where Arsenal drew with Manchester United before beating Standard Liege and Southampton.
On the back of positive results, Ozil faces a stern test after the international break forcing his way back into the Arsenal squad but Parlour believes he will be unsuccessful with that aim.
"I have been really impressed by the youngsters coming through, from Arsenal's point of view. Ozil's not even in the squad now. I think that's probably the end of his career at Arsenal," he told TalkSport.
"You have got youngsters that deserve an opportunity probably more than him at the moment.
"[Bukayo] Saka has come in on the left-hand side, you have got [Gabriel] Martinelli, from Arsenal's point of view going forward he's been excellent. [Dani] Ceballos played at the weekend.
"They have got lots of options now."
The 30-year-old has managed just 71 minutes of Premier League action this season and the same time on the field in the Carabao Cup, totalling just two appearances across all competitions.
