Ray Parlour believes the current Liverpool side would not beat the Arsenal 'Invincibles', who won the Premier League title without losing a game in 2003/04.
Under Arsene Wenger, Arsenal achieved the extraordinary feat of going an entire league season without tasting defeat.
The Gunners would then go on to make it 49 games unbeaten the following season, before the run was ended by Manchester United.
This season, Liverpool have made it 27 league matches without tasting defeat, putting them just 11 shy of equalling the remarkable achievement.
When asked whether Jurgen Klopp's current side would get the better of his old Arsenal team, Parlour believes there is nothing to split the two clubs.
"What a side they are, Liverpool," he told vbet.
Absolutely different class. Obviously, Champions League winners, they're going to win the Premier League this year.
"Can they beat the Invincibles? Now you can't really compare teams, you really can't.
"We had a very strong team going forward, very good defence. But Liverpool, all you got to do is respect what they're doing at the moment, they've been fantastic.
"I love watching Liverpool play, so I can't answer that question."
Upon reflection, the former Arsenal midfielder then added: "I'll go for a draw, how about that?"
Klopp himself has continually dismissed talk of emulating the Gunners' record-breaking side of 16 years ago.
"Oh my god, who sends you out to ask these questions? We haven’t thought a second about [going unbeaten]," Klopp said during a press conference in January.
"If we would have thought about any type of record, we would not have won the number of games we’ve won so far. That's it.
"I think in sports, you may have to ask other teams, never set a record."
