Ravindra Jadeja’s batting has improved, but bowling has gone down: Kapil Dev

KOLKATA: Can Hardik Pandya be called India’s best all-rounder at present? Kapil Dev, without doubt the country’s best all-rounder ever, isn’t sure.

“Can we call him an all-rounder now?” Kapil, in the city as ambassador for golf, wondered. “He is not bowling now. Hardik has to do both the jobs,” he added.

The World Cup-winning captain finds Ravichandran Ashwin to be a fabulous all-rounder. Ravindra Jadeja too qualifies to be a very good all-rounder in Kapil’s book. However, the legend feels although the Saurashtra player’s batting has improved, his bowling has gone down.

“When he started off, Jadeja was a far better bowler but now he is much better as a batsman,” Kapil said.

“He gets the runs when needed, but his performance as a bowler is not quite the same,” he stressed.
