NEW DELHI: Versatile Indian cricketer Ravindra Jadeja on Tuesday paid heartfelt homage to his late mother, Lata. In a moving statement, Jadeja expressed that his successes on the cricket pitch are a testament to her unwavering support and love.
Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, the veteran all-rounder, who recently won the ICC T20 World Cup with Men in Blue in the West Indies and USA, wrote, "Whatever i'm doing on the field.. it's a tribute to you."
Jadeja, the renowned Indian all-rounder, bid farewell to T20Is on June 29, just hours after India's triumphant victory in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The decision came amidst a poignant moment for Jadeja, who had lost his mother in 2005 during his early days in age group cricket, reported ANI.
Jadeja's T20I journey began in February 2009 against Sri Lanka. Throughout his career, he featured in 74 matches, claiming 54 wickets at an average of 29.85 and accumulating 515 runs at a strike rate of 127.16.
His most impressive bowling performance came against Scotland in the 2021 ICC T20 World Cup, where he took three wickets for just 15 runs in his four-over spell at the Dubai International Stadium.
With the bat, his standout innings was against England in 2022, where he smashed 46 runs off 29 balls, propelling India to a 49-run victory.
Regarded as one of India's finest all-rounders, Jadeja's international career spans 343 appearances, during which he amassed 6,307 runs at an average of 32.67, including four centuries and 33 half-centuries. His highest score stands at an unbeaten 175.
Additionally, he has taken 568 wickets in international cricket at an average of 29.30, with his best figures being 7/42. Jadeja played a crucial role in India's successful campaigns at the ICC Champions Trophy 2013 and the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
