Ravi Gaikwad re-elected as president of Handball Association of Maharashtra

MUMBAI: Ravi Gaikwad was unanimously re-elected president of Handball Association of Maharashtra for another four-year term in the Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Pune on Sunday.

Rajaram Raut and Gothmanage too were unanimously elected secretary and treasurer, respectively. Rupesh More was elected as Senior Vice-President whereas Samir Chougle was appointed as the CEO. Indian Olympic Association (IOA) treasurer Mr Anandeshwar Pandey was the mandatory IOA observer during the election.

In an unprecedented show of solidarity and support by its member associations, the entire working committee was elected unanimously by members of 33 districts which were present during the AGM.

Thanking the members for restoring faith in his leadership, Gaikwad, a PhD in sports and PhD in electronics engineering, said, "We will together thrive to create maximum opportunities for handball players from Maharashtra to succeed at the national and international level."

Expressing satisfaction in the overwhelming support from all members and electing every office bearer unanimously, Pandey said, "At a time when we see so much of indifference among its members in sports associations, it is very heart-warming to see such unity here in handball and I am sure everyone in this association will work for the betterment of the game in the state and country."
