Ravens WR Dez Bryant activated from reserve/COVID-19 list ahead of game vs. Jaguars

BALTIMORE — The Ravens have activated wide receiver Dez Bryant from the reserve/COVID-19 list, the team announced Monday, after a positive test sidelined him for the past two games.

Bryant was ruled out of the team’s Week 13 game against the Dallas Cowboys 30 minutes before kickoff after a point-of-care PCR test at M&T Bank Stadium returned a positive test. He was administered the test before kickoff after two tests from earlier in the day returned inconclusive results.

In the following days, Bryant wrote on Twitter twice that he had tested negative for the coronavirus. The Ravens placed Bryant on the reserve/COVID-19 list on Thursday but coach John Harbaugh confirmed Friday that Bryant had tested negative for the coronavirus, adding that he was “on schedule” for his return.

While NFL protocols state that the typical self-quarantine period for a player who tests positive is 10 days, he can return if he is not showing symptoms, at least five days have passed since the positive test and he returns two negative PCR tests at least 24 hours apart during those five days. Bryant spent five days on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

Bryant, who has appeared in three games and has four catches for 28 yards, is eligible to play in Sunday’s home game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Ravens also activated cornerback Terrell Bonds from the reserve/COVID-19 list. Bonds, who landed on the list on Nov. 30, will revert to the injured reserve list. The Ravens placed him on IR after he suffered a knee injury Nov. 15.

With the latest activations, only rookie safety Geno Stone remains on the reserve/COVID-19 list after the team had 23 players on the list during an outbreak that affected players, coaches and family members. Stone was placed on the list Dec. 2.
