Ravens waive S Bennett Jackson

The Baltimore Ravens sit at 10-2 and atop the AFC playoff picture. But they’re not satisfied with their roster as it stands right now. So as they enter Week 14 and prepare to take on the Buffalo Bills, they’re altering their 53-man roster a bit.

According to the team’s Twitter account, Baltimore waived safety Bennett Jackson.

While there’s no fellow roster decision to immediately fill Jackson’s spot, it’s likely to make room for safety Brynden Trawick, who is eligible to return from injured reserve this week.

Jackson has primarily been used as depth this season after the Ravens saw injuries to safeties Tony Jefferson and DeShon Elliott as well as injuries to cornerbacks Tavon Young and Jimmy Smith. Jackson was signed to the roster for Week 7 but has been active for just four of the six games he’s been with the team, playing mostly on special teams.

Trawick suffered an elbow injury in Week 2 against the Arizona Cardinals. While Baltimore kept him on the 53-man roster, subsequent defensive lapses saw the Ravens need the roster space to make some additions in Week 5, sending Trawick to injured reserve after two weeks.
