Ravens waive FB Bronson Rechsteiner — son of wrestling legend

The Baltimore Ravens announced via Twitter they’ve waived undrafted free agent fullback Bronson Rechsteiner. The Ravens signed Rechsteiner out of Kennesaw state this offseason after he failed to get selected in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Rechsteiner was a long shot to make the Ravens’ final 53-man roster. While Baltimore is one of the few teams remaining in the NFL to still actively use a dedicated fullback in their offense, they already have one of the league’s best in Patrick Ricard — who pulls triple duty on defense and special teams as well.

Still, Baltimore has typically liked keeping around some running back options on the practice squad, pulling Alex Collins and Gus Edwards from it in recent years. It was hoped Rechsteiner would be able to show some talent during training camp, earning a practice squad spot and sticking around with the Ravens for a little while.

Rechsteiner had a successful 2019 campaign at Kennesaw State. He rushed for 909 yards and seven touchdowns on 121 carries, adding another 101 receiving yards on eight catches.

Rechsteiner has a well-known family, at least in the professional wrestling community. Rechsteiner is the son and nephew of wrestling legends Rick and Scott Steiner, who both performed for the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) at times throughout their careers.
