Ravens get CB Marcus Peters in a trade with Rams

The Baltimore Ravens apparently have had enough of their issues in the secondary. With the trade deadline quickly approaching, the Ravens pulled off a trade with the Los Angeles Rams for cornerback Marcus Peters. According to the Ravens’ Twitter account, Baltimore has traded linebacker Kenny Young and an undisclosed draft pick in exchange for Peters.

Baltimore entered the season stacked in the secondary. They arguably had three starting-caliber cornerbacks entering Week 1 with Marlon Humphrey, Brandon Carr, and Jimmy Smith. However, slot cornerback Tavon Young went to injured reserve with a neck injury, and Smith suffered a knee sprain. With injuries to safeties Tony Jefferson and DeShon Elliott, and the lackluster pass rush compounding their issues, the Ravens have struggled mightily this season against the pass.

Adding Peters, a 26-year-old former Pro Bowl and All-Pro pick should dramatically improve Baltimore’s defense. This season, Peters has two interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown. Over his five-year career, Peters has started in 67 games, notching 24 total interceptions, including four returned for touchdowns.
