Ravens’ Trace McSorley connects with Michael Floyd on 28-yard touchdown pass

The Baltimore Ravens offense started the game off slow by settling for two field goals deep inside the Philadelphia Eagles’ territory. But after a few minutes into the second quarter, Baltimore’s offense has come to life.

First, rookie quarterback Trace McSorley took matters into his own hands by rushing in for a touchdown to give the Ravens a 13-0 lead over the Eagles. Then, McSorley threw this beautiful 28-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Michael Floyd, which extended Baltimore’s lead to 19-0.

McSorley and Floyd are both fighting to stay on Baltimore’s 53-man roster.

In McSorley’s case, he has the opportunity to shine with backup quarterback Robert Griffin III on the sidelines due to a thumb injury he suffered during practice in July. Depending on how severe the injury is, McSorley could see himself on the 53-man roster for the first couple of weeks of season while Griffin III recovers.

For Floyd, he’s entering his eighth season and is in a log-jam at wide receiver with Baltimore. His competition consists of Seth Roberts, Jaleel Scott, Jaylon Smith and Antoine Wesley, in no particular order. If there’s a chance the Ravens coaching staff have their minds made up as to who will stay on the roster at receiver, he just put them on notice.
