Ravens to place QB Tyler Huntley on Reserve/COVID-19 list

The Baltimore Ravens have been the one of the most injured teams in the league during the 2021 season. They’ve seen multiple key contributors go down with various ailments, which has made Baltimore use the next man up strategy probably more than they would have liked to.

While injures have been a key factor for the Ravens, recently COVID-19 has swept it’s way through the Baltimore locker room. Quite a few players have been placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list over the last week, and that didn’t change on Christmas Day, as Ian Rapoport and Aditi Kinkhabwala of NFL Network reported that quarterback Tyler Huntley will miss Week 16 against the Cincinnati Bengals after testing positive for COVID.

The loss of Huntley is the worst-case scenario for the Ravens, as it leaves Josh Johnson as the only healthy quarterback on their roster. Lamar Jackson didn’t practice all week with an ankle injury while practice squad signal caller Chris Streveler is also on the Reserve/COVID-19 list.

Johnson, a 35-year-old veteran, has played for a big handful of teams over the course of his NFL career ever since starting his professional career in 2008. He will now seemingly be thrust into a massive spot, as Baltimore likely needs a win over Cincinnati in Week 16 to keep their AFC North divisional hopes alive.
