Ravens special teams coordinator Jerry Rosburg to retire in June

The Baltimore Ravens have lost a number of their pending free agents this offseason already. But they’ll end up losing perhaps something even more important to them before the season starts. Special teams coordinator and associate head coach Jerry Rosburg is set to retire in June, coach John Harbaugh said on Friday.

Rosburg has been a fundamental part of why the Ravens’ special teams units have been so outstanding over the years. His well-known fire on the field has helped develop not only special teams talent but young offensive and defensive players who started their careers with Baltimore on special teams.

Rosburg has been with the Ravens since 2008. Using NFL writer Rick Gosselin’s universally accepted special teams rankings, Baltimore’s special teams units have finished in the top five for eight consecutive seasons under Rosburg, including a fifth-place finish in 2018.

Assistant special teams coach Chris Horton — a former Washington Redskins and New York Giants safety — will replace Rosburg.
