Ravens safety Earl Thomas hopes for some cheers in his return to Seattle

One of the most notable storylines of Week 7 is the return to Seattle of safety Earl Thomas, who spent the first eight years of his NFL career with the Seahawks before signing with the Baltimore Ravens this offseason following a rather dramatic final year in the Emerald City.

Thomas publicly held out last summer in the hopes of landing a new contract extension, but reports that he had asked Cowboys coach Jason Garrett to “come get me” had soured the relationship. A broken leg in Week 4 cost Thomas the rest of the season, and he directed an obscene gesture at Pete Carroll as he was carted off the field.

Despite the acrimonious end, Thomas was the key member of Seattle’s Legion of Boom and roamed center field for teams that made two straight Super Bowls, winning one.

Speaking with media about this week’s game for the first time, Thomas indicated he hopes the fans will give him some cheers in his return to CenturyLink Field.

The fan base is sure to be split on Thomas after his incredible career in Seattle and his unceremonious departure. Thomas and the Ravens will take on the Seahawks at 1:25 p.m. PT. on Sunday.
