Ravens receive B-plus grade for Jaylon Ferguson pick

The Baltimore Ravens found their new pass rusher, selecting Louisiana Tech’s Jaylon Ferguson with the No. 85 overall pick in the third round.

It was a big need for Baltimore coming into this draft and earned a good grade accordingly. Luke Easterling of Draft Wire gave the Ravens a B-plus grade for Ferguson:

“If you love big numbers and tons of upside, you’ll be a big fan of Ferguson, who was highly productive for the Bulldogs. A versatile pass rusher who can wreak havoc off the edge, Ferguson is a steal this late.”

Ferguson broke former Ravens outside linebacker Terrell Suggs’ NCAA sacks record, finishing with 45. Ferguson had 17.5 sacks and 26 tackles for loss in 2018. But it’s not just the pure production fans should be excited for. With a little refinement physically and to his technique, Ferguson has the makings of a three-down linebacker for the Ravens.

NFL.com draft analyst Lance Zierlein had a second-round grade on Ferguson, but it looks as though he dropped to Baltimore in the third round thanks to poor combine and pro day performances. But as the Ravens learned last year with Orlando Brown Jr., it’s all about the film over the combine.
