Ravens QB Lamar Jackson wins FedEd Air Player of the Week for Week 1

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson put on a show in Week 1. Against the Miami Dolphins, Jackson was 17-of-20 for 324 yards, five touchdown passes and a perfect 158.3 quarterback rating. For that perfect outing, Jackson has earned the FedEx Air Player of the Week award and $2,000 donated to the USO in his name.

Competing with Jackson for the Air award was Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, and Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. But by blowing up expectations and setting franchise records, Jackson was clearly the favorite for the award this week. Jackson also won the AFC’s Offensive Player of the Week award as well for Week 1.

Jackson was joined by teammate running back Mark Ingram, who was nominated for the FedEx Ground Player of the Week award. Ingram rushed for 107 yards and two touchdowns on just 14 carries. That included his game-opening 49-yard bruising run that set the tone for Baltimore’s 59-10 victory. However, he lost out to Indianapolis Colts running back Marlon Mack, who rushed for 174 yards and one touchdown.

For the Ravens’ offense, the awards are already stacking up this season. We’ll see if they can continue that pace in Week 2 against the Arizona Cardinals.
