Ravens QB Lamar Jackson returns to practice; WR Sammy Watkins ruled out vs. Chargers

BALTIMORE — Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is on track to play in Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers after returning to practice Friday.

Jackson missed Thursday’s workout with an illness but was back on the field for the team’s final session this week. Coach John Harbaugh said Friday that there were no lingering ill effects. Jackson was a full participant Friday and was not listed on the team’s injury report.

Harbaugh also ruled left tackle Ronnie Stanley (ankle) and wide receiver Sammy Watkins (thigh) out of Sunday’s game. There is no timetable for Watkins’ return, but it’s not expected to be a long-term injury.

“He could be back next week. He could be back the week after,” Harbaugh said. “It just depends on how quickly the hamstring heals.”

Left tackle Alejandro Villanueva (knee), who returned to practice as a limited participant after missing Thursday’s, is questionable. Safeties DeShon Elliott (quadriceps) and Geno Stone (thigh) are also questionable, though they were full participants Friday. Defensive end Calais Campbell and outside linebackers Pernell McPhee and Justin Houston missed practice to rest.

The Chargers ruled out starter Drue Tranquill (chest), one of Pro Football Focus’ highest-rated inside linebackers. Star wide receiver Mike Williams (knee), who was sidelined at practice all week, is questionable, as is starting safety Nasir Adderley (hip), who missed the last two workouts.
