The Baltimore Ravens were defeated by the Miami Dolphins by the final score of 22-10 in Week 10. The team couldn’t muster any type of momentum on offense until very late in the contest with a touchdown, but by then it was too late, as Miami was able to secure a victory with a score of their own.
After the game, it was brought up to quarterback Lamar Jackson that in the past, the Baltimore offense had started fast, but however this season that hasn’t been the case. Jackson said that the slow starts are “ridiculous” and that he doesn’t understand how it’s become this way.
“Slow. Every week. It’s ridiculous. I don’t understand it either. We just have to do a better job at that. You know, hit the ground running, like we’re supposed to do. And that starts by staying calm and just doing us. Don’t put nothing extra on our minds.”
On their opening two possessions in Week 10, the Ravens ran 17 combined plays and gained 92 combined yards, but were only able to muster three total points. However, on their next four drives Baltimore only had 14 combined plays for 36 combined yards.
Slow starts have been a recurring theme for the Ravens over the course of the 2021 season. If they can kick that trend, Baltimore could be able to find a bit more offensive consistency over the rest of the year.
