Ravens QB Lamar Jackson among leaders in merch sales for 2019 season

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson has become a household name. While everyone still isn’t on his bandwagon and there are plenty of haters, his influence can no longer be denied. After winning the 2019 NFL MVP award and guiding the Ravens to a league-best 14-2 record, Jackson has become one of the most prominent faces of the NFL. And with that recognition comes a lot of merch sales.

According to the NFLPA, Jackson sold the third most officially licensed products and merchandise from Mar. 1 of last year to Feb. 29 of 2020. Only Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and then-New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady rank in front of Jackson, though no other Baltimore player makes the top-50 list.

It’s a testament to the work Jackson put in over the offseason to transform his game from his rookie season to his second year. Jackson came in as the obvious starter last season with clearly refined footwork and pocket presence. He turned that improved play into 3,127 passing yards, a league-leading 36 passing touchdowns as well as a record-breaking 1,206 rushing yards and seven touchdowns en route to being just the second unanimous MVP in league history.

He’s once again back on the practice field, working out with Marquise Brown and Antonio Brown this offseason.

Jackson is likely in line to become the next Madden cover player and should be looking at a potential bump up in merch sales as well after his play last season. However, he’s currently suing Amazon for selling and promoting unlicensed merchandise with his likeness and catchphrases.
