Quarterback Joe Flacco is dealing with a sore throwing shoulder and there's no guarantees he'll be able to play Sunday as the Ravens attempt to break a three-game losing streak against the New York Jets.
Flacco sat out practice Wednesday, two days after he had an MRI on his right shoulder.
"It's nothing to worry about," Flacco said. "I have a little shoulder soreness so we just thought it was best to take a day off and see how it feels tomorrow."
Flacco said he didn't have any problems with his shoulder during the 27-23 loss to the New York Giants, but he felt "a little something" afterward.
"I'm not nervous," Flacco said. "Like I said, I think today, just staying there and doing some rehab and trying to get it warmed up a little bit is probably the best thing. ... It's not about being pain-free. You can deal with a little pain. It's about making sure you can go out there and throw the ball well enough to help your team."
Ravens coach John Harbaugh said whether Flacco plays Sunday will depend on how much progress the veteran quarterback makes throughout the week. If Flacco can't go, Ryan Mallett would start in his place.
"I'll feel very confident if Ryan Mallett is out there playing," Harbaugh said. "I'm going to want Joe want out there. Everybody knows that; Joe knows that. Joe will be out there if he can. There's no tougher guy than Joe. But to me, he will be out there. It's my belief he'll be out there. But the way it heals is the way it heals and we'll see."
