Ravens players react to their ‘Madden 20’ launch ratings

It’s that time of year again. NFL training camps are set to open in the next week or two and fans are looking forward to the 2019 season. With all that comes the next iteration of the Madden video game franchise — “Madden 20.”

EA Sports recently released their player launch ratings. Among the Baltimore Ravens players, there are a few overrated players and a few snubs. But some of the players around the league seem to take offense at their ratings and going on social media to talk about it.

Defensive back Anthony Levine said he isn’t really one to play the video game but knocked his speed rating.

Levine has an 85 speed rating in Madden 20. It’s not terrible but considering Levine ran a 4.43-second 40-yard dash at his Pro Day and has a lower speed rating than running back Kenneth Dixon, who ran the 40 in 4.58 seconds, it seems to be incorrect.

Levine took the whole thing in stride though.

Safety Tony Jefferson also took a little jab at his “Madden 20” rating. Jefferson is one of Baltimore’s highest-rated players with an 84 overall grade but still made a little joke about how low he considers it.

However, for all the players around the league complaining — jokingly or not — there were some that noted it was just a video game. Ravens left tackle Ronnie Stanley and center Matt Skura used Jefferson’s tweet to note that the ratings ultimately don’t matter.

As if to help point out how meaningless the player ratings really are, safety DeShon Elliott and quarterback Lamar Jackson talked about bumping up their numbers once the game comes out on August 2.

Linebacker Alvin Jones joined in on the fun, talking about completely changing his position after bumping up his ratings.
