Ravens place WR Marquise Brown, OLB Jaylon Ferguson, 2 other rookies on NFI list

The Baltimore Ravens rookies began training camp Wednesday at the Under Armour Performance Center. However, not all the rookies are quite ready for the field yet.

The Ravens placed four rookies on the non-football injury list today, including first-round selection Marquise Brown and third-round pick Jaylon Ferguson.

It’s unclear exactly why Brown, Ferguson, Daylon Mack and Jaylen Smith are on the list. However, since some players were tweeting about a conditioning test, it’s likely that’s responsible for at least some of them.

For Brown, Baltimore could be being cautious with their first-round pick. Brown suffered a Lisfranc injury prior to the NFL combine that required surgery. Considering the Ravens have seen players like cornerback Jimmy Smith and defensive end Brent Urban deal with the injury, they could be waiting until he’s 100% healthy before putting him on the field completely.

With the full team set to report to training camp on July 24, we will likely hear the reasons from coach John Harbaugh by that time.
