Ravens OLB Odafe Oweh talks about how he’s adjusted to the speed of the NFL so far

The Baltimore Ravens invested the 31st overall pick of the 2021 NFL draft into outside linebacker Odafe Oweh. The rookie has impressed so far, racking up 10 total tackles, two sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery in four games.

When asked about how he feels like he’s been adjusting to the speed of the NFL game, Oweh said that he believes he’s adjusted “pretty well”, but identified that there are a few things that he can improve upon. He also pointed to his athleticism, saying that it helps him out in “a lot of spaces”.

“I think I’ve adjusted pretty well for a rookie. Obviously, I can get better, in terms of reading everything and playing a little bit faster, but I feel like my athleticism helps me in a lot of spaces, where a lot of other rookies would struggle – stuff like that. But there’s always room for improvement, and I’m going to get better as the games go by.”

Oweh is still learning the NFL game, and all things considered has been one of the better defenders on the Baltimore defense. He’s been all over the field, and quickly put the narrative that he can’t sack the quarterback to bed, accumulating two over four professional games after having none in final year in college at Penn State University.

The Ravens wanted Oweh to play a big role on their defense from the jump, and he’s done just that. As the year continues, hopefully the outside linebacker can continue to adjust to the NFL level and keep making splash plays for a defense that struggled a bit early, but has started to improve.
