Ravens LB Patrick Queen is our Player of the Game vs. Jaguars

Baltimore Ravens’ rookie linebacker Patrick Queen continues to be a force on defense, doing virtually everything expected of him with gusto. Then again, this seems to be par for the course for linebackers Baltimore has taken in the first round.

Queen was featured in our key matchup before the game and, as expected, proved to be a major factor in the Ravens’ rout of the visiting Jacksonville Jaguars. Although his stats might not widen any eyes or drop jaws, Queen was all over the field against the Jaguars, disrupting play after play using his signature speed to cover the turf and snuff out ballcarriers before they had a chance to get going.

Queen seemingly spent as much time in the backfield as Jacksonville quarterback Gardner Minshew. He finished the day with six combined tackles, one sack, two quarterback hits, and three tackles for a loss (including the video clip above). As we predicted, his presence made the ultimate difference, especially with an undermanned defense devoid of key starters. He continues to make a strong case for Defensive Player of the Year, as the Ravens pointed out during the game.

With the health of the defense in question as of late, outstanding play from Queen will likely be a necessity for the remaining games as Baltimore continues its push to the playoffs. And if his performance this game is any indicator, putting faith in Queen to deliver will be a safe and smart bet for both Baltimore brass and fans alike.
