Ravens LB Kenny Young almost takes Jaguars QB Gardner Minshew’s head off

Baltimore Ravens inside linebacker Kenny Young showed flashes of potential last season with his ability to wrap up ball carriers to go along with his speed. This season, Young is eyeing up an impact role on Baltimore’s highly-ranked defense with the departure of All-Pro linebacker C.J. Mosley in free agency.

Young started his season off on the right foot in the very first preseason game, against the Jacksonville Jaguars. With the Jaguars up against their own goal line, Young knifed through the offensive line to absolutely destroy quarterback Gardner Minshew for a sack — leaving his helmet and mouthpiece separate from his head.

While Young’s big hit was aided by Minshew fumbling the snap, you don’t see big hits like that often in today’s NFL. In fact, it’s almost reminiscent of former Ravens linebacker Bart Scott knocking down Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger for a sack in 2006.

But it was a really good read by Young no matter how you slice it. He read the Jaguars tight end run out to pass at the beginning of the snap, which gave him a free run at Minshew that will likely be one of the more memorable hits around the NFL during the preseason.
