Ravens ILB Chris Board, OLB Jaylon Ferguson cleared concussion protocol

The Baltimore Ravens were already pretty thin at inside linebacker and outside linebacker this season. But a concussion to starting inside linebacker Chris Board against the Green Bay Packers and another to rookie outside linebacker Jaylon Ferguson in joint practices against the Philadelphia Eagles made the units that much thinner.

On Tuesday, coach John Harbaugh said both linebackers had cleared from their concussions. As a starter, Board likely won’t suit up against the Washington Redskins in the final preseason game but it does give Ferguson another chance to get on the field before the regular season begins.

Board is set to start next to Patrick Onwuasor at inside linebacker. It’s a new lineup there after the departure of C.J. Mosley in free agency to the New York Jets. Board had come on strong this offseason, winning the starting job over Kenny Young, who also factors to rotate into the lineup depending on matchups.

Ferguson was Baltimore’s third-round pick in the 2019 NFL draft. Expected to eventually take over as Terrell Suggs’ heir, there’s been some hope Ferguson could play this season as a rotational pass rusher while he gets his feet under him in his first season.
