Ravens honor late Orioles legend Frank Robinson by lighting M&T Bank Stadium orange

Baltimore lost a legend on Thursday as Orioles great Frank Robinson died at age 83. To help honor Robinson and what he meant to the city, the Ravens lit up M&T Bank Stadium orange that evening.

It coincided with the Orioles putting flowers by Robinson’s statue in front of Camden Yards to light up the whole area as a tribute.

Robinson was one of the most impactful people in baseball. A first-ballot Hall of Famer who is still the only player to win MVP in both leagues, Robinson then became the first African-American manager in baseball.

Robinson was also a monumental figure in Baltimore history as an activist in the civil rights movement. He was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2005 and was honored with the first Jackie Robinson Society Community Recognition Award in 2007.

In addition to the color change of M&T Bank Stadium, the Ravens also released a statement after the news of Robinson’s death.
