Ravens HC John Harbaugh shares first impressions of rookie CBs

The Baltimore Ravens drafted extremely well in 2022, filling multiple needs while also securing multiple different playmakers on both sides of the ball. Many of their rookies will be expected to play big roles in the team’s success this season, and they certainly have the talent to make an impact.

Baltimore selected two cornerbacks over the course of draft weekend, with both coming in the fourth round in Jalyn Armour-Davis out of Alabama and Damarion “Pepe” Williams out of Houston. When head coach John Harbaugh was asked about his impressions of the pair, he said that he thinks they’re doing a great job and praised their knowledge.

“Very positive. I think they’re doing a great job. Those guys [are] very, very knowledgeable. They have a great feel for the game: leverage; spacing; their eyes are in the right spot most of the time; they’re smart; they learn; they have good feet, and they have good ball skills. I think those guys are doing a really good job. They’ll play this year. They’ll play well.”

Both Armour-Davis and Williams will act as valuable depth early on in their NFL careers with the Ravens assuming the veteran players on the roster at the cornerback position are fully healthy to start the year in Marlon Humphrey and Marcus Peters.

Humphrey participated in organized team activities and seems good to go, but Peters is still recovering from a torn ACL that he suffered right before the 2021 season. In the event that Peters needs more time to recover, Armour-Davis and Williams could be asked to step into a big role right away, and based off of early indications so far they are showing that they could do just that.
