Ravens HC John Harbaugh shares early thoughts on team’s QB situation for Week 16 vs. Bengals

The Baltimore Ravens suffered a 31-30 defeat at the hands of the Green Bay Packers in Week 15. It was a game where Baltimore was expected to get blown out of the water by Aaron Rodgers, Davante Adams and company, but they hung around all contest long and were in position to take the lead in the final minute of regulation. However, a failed two-point conversion attempt sealed their fate and sent them to a third-straight loss.

After the game, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh was asked about how close quarterback Lamar Jackson was to playing in the matchup. Harbaugh deferred to the team trainer, but did give his early thoughts on who he anticipates being Baltimore’s starter in Week 16 against the Cincinnati Bengals.

“I don’t have that measurement stick. So, you’d have to talk to the trainer, because I don’t really ask that question. It’s just whether he’s ready or not – that’s the question I ask. We’ll anticipate him being back next week, but if he’s not able to be fully ready, then we’ll go with Tyler [Huntley]. So, we’ll be ready to go either way.”

Tyler Huntley performed well in the absence of Jackson, completing 28-of-40 passes for 215 yards and two touchdowns through the air while also rushing for two on the ground. He continues to show that he’s the perfect backup for Jackson, and could find himself competing for a starting job somewhere if he continues to play as well as he has in the opportunities he receives.

Baltimore seems confident and ready to go regardless of who’s under center for them in Week 16. While it’s ideal to have Jackson starting, Huntley has impressed in his action, leading the Ravens to a win and two close losses where he played well overall.
